Engineered Design

Some designers find their way to the drafting table through a love of color. I arrived here by way of a blueprinted life, a family heritage of high design, and a ten-year career managing complex engineering projects.

Growing up, design wasn’t just a background element - it was our native language. My father, as the CEO and president of Duravit USA, taught me to look at plumbing and architectural fixtures not as mere utilities, but as functional, sculptural art. My mother, a long-time ASID interior designer, trained my eye to see how scale, texture, and light dictate the emotional heartbeat of a room. And my sister, a master of 18th-century porcelain and a creative force in design public relations, instilled in me a deep love for art history and the stories behind beautiful things.

Design was everywhere, but my innate aptitude for mathematics and the sciences pulled me toward the engineering world. For nearly ten years, I excelled at land development and project management—earning my professional civil engineering (PE) license and learning how to look at raw space, anticipate constraints, manage rigorous timelines, and command a job site with precision.

However, my true passion was always calling.

The ultimate catalyst was renovating my own 1942 home in Collier Hills. I approached the project with a deep desire to maintain the historical character of our sweet home, but I also wanted to drastically improve its functionality—not just the flow between rooms, but the spatial connection between interior and outdoor living. It became a masterclass in mixing fabrics and textures, allowing each individual room to tell its own unique story while keeping the entire house beautifully tied together. Living through that transformation was the final spark I needed. I officially decided to make the jump into the design world full-time, merging the two halves of my brain: engineering-level execution and high-end residential style.
